Sweet smell of non-success

A couple of months ago, NYC was abuzz over a strange, sweet smell that pervaded the city. I personally never smelled it, but supposedly it was a maple syrupy kind of smell. Some people worried it was a toxic gas released by terrorists, some thought it was just a candy factory run amok, and today there was a follow-up story blaming it all on New Jersey.

My personal theory was that it came from all those real estate brokers making cinnamon rolls at open houses!

My ex girlfriend used to live near this perfume factory or something that smelled really sweet. Every time I would go to visit, it was reek of sweet tart something or other. Bleckkkk!

Anyway, I would have been scared if it was a 'chemical sort of smell'... Just have HAZMAT logged in your cell phone. ;)

Reminds me of the folks in the North End of Boston who complain of the molases smell in the hot summer months. But they blame that on the after-effects of the Great Molasses Disaster of 1915.

that's funny about brokers and their cinnamon buns.
