Do You Haiku?

If you do, check out Make Your Nut's Personal Finance Haiku Challenge. Anyone can submit a haiku on any personal finance topic, and they'll be judged by readers of the site. Entries are being accepted until midnight on Friday June 15th and the winner will receive a $20 cash prize.

I just love contests, so I'm going to submit one of these:

Sad, lonely checkbook:
Blue pages, rarely torn out.

I pay online now.

No one saves money,
All so people can keep up

With someone named Jones.

Live within your means:
Sounds so simple, but try it

On minimum wage.

Which one would you pick?

I would definitely choose the first one. Excellent structure. Haiku are supposed to have two related lines, and one unrelated that kind of flips the picture of the first two into something else. And the images are great.

All three are good, but definitely the first is my choice. BTW congradts on meeting your yearly goal by halfway. Wish I could do that.

They are all good, but I especially like the first one.

I think the first one is the most poetic. So I vote for that one.

#1, just something about the truth of that one. I have 4 books left from 5 i got and i still haven't gone through the 2nd book yet. I do all my bill paying online via transfers.

I like the first one. It says something about how the world has progressed. I rarely use cheques - I do most of my transactions online and I think a lot of people do the same.

I like the first one, but haiku usually have a seasonal element as well (spring, summer, etc.) maybe you can do one at tax time?

I like the first one. I feel the uselessness of the checkbook and the 'blue' of the pages reflects it's sadness. It's very poignant.

The 2nd one sounds a bit judgmental and the third I like, but lacks the striking imagery of the first one.
