Home-o-versary

I bought my home one year ago today! In the 12 months since, let's see, there's been a massive implosion in the mortgage market, home prices are down nationally and it only looks to get worse... but on the bright side, I have a lovely apartment and no regrets. Here's a couple of posts I wrote last year about my closing:

Closure on Closing
Closing: Morning Of

A commenter asked me to do a full timeline of my home-buying process, and I've had the post in draft for ages... I will get around to finishing it one of these days!

Congrats! It's a great feeling after a year. We just hit 18 months in our (most recent) house just last week.

Congratulations! I reach six years right in a little over a month from now.

Go, Madame X, go! I'm almost at 8 years, and every morning I wake up happy I made the decision to buy my sunny, spacious apartment. I hope you feel the same. It's a great investment in your future financial life, and it makes you feel like a grown up, doesn't it?

We'll hit 1 year (on our first home) at the end of this month - what a great feeling! I can't believe time has flown so quickly... In the short time, we've done plenty of painting and re-painting, changed almost all light fixtures, laid some tile, hung moulding, fully remodeled the kitchen (new countertops, sink, fixtures, cabinets, appliances), built a new front porch, finished half of the basement (drywall, doors, paint, carpet, moulding - just don't look up yet! the ceiling is yet to come...), landscaped, and had lots of fun decorating. Yikes! No wonder I feel so broke and tired these days ;) Good thing I have family/friends/neighbors who are quite handy, and a husband who is learning as he goes!

I remember when you bought your home last year (and the subsequent home expense posts) .... Congrats!
I also did the same thing for my 1 year home-o-versary. However, if you did get a prepayment penalty on your mortgage, passing that date will be another celebratory milestone!
