People Want Cheap Stuff

Boy, have we become a price-conscious country. More people are shopping at Wal-Mart. Inexpensive paperback books are outselling hardcovers by ever wider margins. And L. L. Bean is highlighting a whole range of items that are still the same price they were in 1995:

I assume that LLB can sell for those prices is that much of the stuff is now made in China. Would that health care and higher education could be had for such prices!

yeah, LLBean use to be made in USA, but now is made in china. I bought like 5 pairs of slacks (do people call them slacks anymore, ok chinos) and they are terrible. the cut is off and they fell apart. i won't be buying cheap chinos from llbean again any time soon.

L.L. Bean's products may be made in China, but so are everyone else's, and prices other places are higher than 1995.
