Still Here...

For those who have noticed the deafening silence here for the past month, just wanted to let you know I will be back someday soon. As you might have guessed, my father died, and for some reason, it seems to have knocked me out of orbit a bit as far as this blog is concerned, though I'm doing okay otherwise. I guess money issues just haven't been top of mind, but of course they never completely disappear... so bear with me and I'll get back to writing more soon.

  53. Dear Madame X,

I am so sorry for your loss. Please accept my condolences. It is very tough to deal with a parent's death no matter how old you are. I lost my father 15 years ago and I know how hollow I felt inside. May God rest him in Peace.

  55. Ah...I had feared as much.

Take care of yourself; be gentle and forgiving of what I call "grief brain" - it happened to me with the loss of each parent.

I join the many others who carry you gently in my heart and will be here when you return.

  56. Hugs . . . . the loss of a parent is extremely difficult.
It made me re-think my priorities. . . . hope you get to feeling better soon.
    I do enjoy your blog.

  58. If you have any of the feelings I had after the passing of both of my parents (also when I was in my 30s), you're probably pretty sick of platitudes right now. But, you probably also know, that's about all we, as 'friends' have to offer...

So I will say this: do something nice for yourself today: go to a park or a museum, go to a movie, buy yourself something frivolous, eat at an expensive restaurant with a friend (and treat them!). These are the things we tend to pass up after the loss of a loved one, most often because we feel we should be "grieving".

    Remember to live.
