I am on the road... so not much time to blog, but plenty of things to think about:
$300 hotel rooms with ratty carpets and non-functioning showers
Cups of coffee that cost almost $6.00
The little bag you get on an airplane with socks, an eye mask, toothbrush and mini-toothpaste-- why are these dumb little free things so oddly attractive? Why do I always keep them and bring them home with me even if I already have 6 eyemasks and innumerable pairs of socks that are much nicer?
How rich would I have to be before I felt like I could spend my own money to upgrade to first class?
How many receipts have I forgotten to save?
Pithier remarks will resume in a few days...

Whoa...last time I flew I got soda and (I think) peanuts. Socks? Toothpaste? Even better...an eye mask???
Or are you flying over the ocean?
Of course, I haven't flown since spring of, um, 2001. But I'm flying again in a few weeks...to Chicago. And I don't know if Chi-Town hotels have a mouse situation like NYC hotels, but thanks to your previous post, I'll be paying attention!
what? you get socks! and an eyemask? i was excited to get headphones, and i had to smuggle those off the plane.
