Weekend Fun

An evening's worth of Korean barbeque, Karaoke, and beer, plus a taxi home: $80.00
Watching your friends' jaws drop when you throw down an ass-kicking rendition of "Magic Man": priceless

I had never done karaoke before, and always thought I would hate it-- I can carry a tune, but I don't really have much of a voice to carry it with, so I usually avoid singing at all costs. But with a few good friends, a few pitchers of beer, and a lot of reverb in a small room, it turns out that there are a few songs that I can actually do justice to, and the normally sedate and mild-mannered Madame X turns into a rock and roll diva. Who knew.

Obviously my next step is to pursue fame and fortune by starting a band. I haven't tried singing any of my personal finance playlist yet, but I think that could become a good theme, and perhaps I can turn some of my Rules into original songs. We'll have to come up with a cool name, maybe "Madame X and the Outstanding Balance" or "Madame X and the Wallettes," if I can get a cute trio of girl backup singers...

LOL sounds like you had a blast!

*pointin to the sky* Girl, I can see your name in lights!

"Madame X and the Millionaires"

I would volunteer to be in your band, but my fabulosity doesn't vibe well with backup. I prefer center stage and the spotlight! LOL

I've only had the courage to sing Karaoke a couple times, and both times included large quantities of beer. My favorite Karaoke memory is when myself and 4 other friends (Girls and Guys) in college went to a hick "country" bar near campus and belted out the B52's "Love Shack" in front of a packed bar filled with Cowboys.

Needless to say, we found it much more hilarious than they did.

Aren't you glad you discovered Karaoke? Now you can finally be a Rock Star!!!

I would have paid to see that. I mean, paid an amount befitting my budget of course ;)

Sounds like great fun!

The Korean places have a computer that prints out a score for your singing. You didn't go to one of those midtown places for BBQ did you? There is one on 33rd that is fantastic!

How about 'Madame X and the High Rates of Return'?
