This regular feature always cracks me up: Unitasker Wednesday at The Unclutterer.
Single-use items are a great way to waste money, and The Unclutterer manages to find some real gems. This one's a classic: the Jumbo Jerky Works Gun.
Though it may look and sound vaguely obscene, it really isn't, unless you're vegan. You fill it with a pound of seasoned meat, which you can then extrude into jerky in a variety of shapes. Dry it in the oven and you've got your own homemade Slim Jim. Somehow it all sounds rather gross, and I say this even as someone who actually loves beef jerky!
This device will set you back about $20. Buying a ready-made Slim Jim can cost less than $1, depending on the size and whether you buy them in bulk, so I suppose you could squeeeeeze some savings out of the Jumbo Jerky Works Gun if you eat a lot of Slim Jims. But do you really want to invest that much time? And is it healthy to eat that much jerky? All things considered, I think I'll save my $20 for something else!

The gross thing about the jerky gun is that the meat has to be all minced to get through the gun. It has a really gross texture and tastes super salty.
You can make much better jerky by marinating the meat, slicing it in thin strips and drying it in your oven set to low overnight.
Not only is it gross, it's also not truly a uni-tasker. This item looks almost exactly like a cookie press -- although once you've extruded raw meat through it, I'm not sure you'd want to put cookie dough into it...
Wow, what a piece of junk.
Made me think of the "real financial heroes" video where the announcer says: "The garage sales of tomorrow are counting on you!"

wow .. useless. Anyone who makes jerky knows it is simple. Marinate for 24 hours, then cut and dehydrate. I have 25 pounds of deer jerky at home. That was all I did.
That sounds kinda gross, I always thought jerky was strips of meat? Minced meat is used in Jerky Treats, you know the stuff for dogs. I can't believe someone manufactured that product, what a waste.
Wow...thanks for the link to "Unitasker Wednesdays"...I think I've just taken care of most of my Christmas shopping.
If anyone wants to get me something, I'd sure love the "UroClub". I had to scour the website to make sure it wasn't a joke. Apparently it's not!
Heh, that is so cool.
It's funny, I have more than a few items like this around my kitchen (though none as ridiculous). Ah well, it's a good job my recent foray into simplicity will help once I get round to the kitchen. That stuff will all go.
Clearly this is gross. I wonder, though, who made this. It could have been some random person that invented it and put all their savings behind producing and marketing it. I hope that's not the case because I don't see many people buying it. I don't think its even good enough for infomercials. The Jumbo Jerky Works Gun has nothing on the Food Dehydrator...
