How Not to Get a Second Date!

This story seems to be making the rounds-- a friend of mine emailed it to me and I had to share! A guy named Darren, who says he is the CEO of a consulting firm, meets a girl named Joanne via J-Date, and then...

Darren asks Joanne out. Joanne accepts. They eat at China Grill. (Nice restaurant. I've been there.) Darren pays, despite Joanne offering to split the check.

At some point after the meal, Darren gets the idea that Joanne didn't like him.

Rather than just chalk it up to a bad date (hey, it happens, right?) Darren... Well, Darren has other plans.

DARREN EMAILS JOANNE ASKING HER TO SEND HIM $50 FOR HER PORTION OF DINNER.

It gets better (or worse!) from there, so read the whole post! Who knows if it's true, but it's pretty funny.

It's a fake that might have been true at one time.

Found it at Snopes.com. But I kind of wish it were true because it's so entertaining.

I saw that snopes piece and it is similar but not quite the same-- there was a story in the NY Daily News today that seemed to confirm that this might actually be true!

The person named in the story is a real person and really did used to work at the SEC. If its not true, someone really has it in for that guy. Perhaps the chick in the story is the real "scary" one.

well. what do you expect when you go on "J-Date"?

The guy is real and owns that firm and was quoted recently on the court case the SEC brought on regulating hedge funds. Just Google him.

see nothing wrong with this shlub asking her for money. why women just expect men to pay for everything and then think their empty offers to go halfsies entitles them to get off scot free is astounding. these are the 2000s. If you want equality, pay for what you eat. otherwise you're an escort being paid for your company. nothing against escorts, but if you are one, simply let the dude know before you hit him up for dinner at Nobu.
