2 Year Blogoversary!

Today marks this blog's 2nd birthday, as I wrote my first posts on July 6, 2005. Since then, I have published 746 posts not counting this one, and had over 240,000 visitors. I've had hundreds of hilarious, insightful, strange, and rude comments, and 2 or 3 marriage proposals. I've been mentioned in 5 national print publications. My net worth has increased by about $120,000, I bought a condo, and got a raise and a promotion. I have quoted James Brown at least a dozen times, and used countless bad puns as post titles (starting with Hair Today, Gone Today). I've spent about $15,000 on food, about $27,000 on monthly housing costs, and less than $200 on unexplained balance adjustments. I have found almost $20 worth of assorted change and bills on the street.
It's been a busy two years. It's also been really fun! A big thank you smooch to everyone who reads, comments, and links to this site, for keeping me motivated, entertained, and on my toes. On to year number 3!

Woo hoo! 2 years! Thanks for being so inspiring with your blog. Without you to inspire BostonGal, I don't think I would have read her blog and started my own. Many, many thanks for all the wonderful posts!

Cheers and congratulations...you left out the parts about writing spectacular prose, inspiring others, make me laugh out loud frequently, consistently posting thought-provoking, interesting, and not-your-usual-pfblog posts, and being a bit of a community organizer. So I'll say it. Good work, I remain your loyal fan.

Congratulations, Madame X! Reading most financial magazines and books gives one the idea that all people are either desperate and incompetent, or wealthy and clever, at dealing with money. It's scary to be poor, and it would probably be nice to be rich, but the truth is that most people are somewhere in between, as are we (you a little closer to rich, and me a little closer to poor). I do read other authors, but I make sure to get to your blog everyday, because you help me believe that someone with ordinary, everyday concerns can deal with financial matters in a sane way. I am comforted and hopeful that I can get out, and stay out, of debt, and achieve more control of my financial life. Thank you! Happy Anniversary, and long may you wave!

You're a rock star in the PF blogging world! I'm totally impressed that you keep a running calculation of your "unexplained balance adjustments." That made me laugh as with most of your posts.

You are brilliant and clever and we're all waiting for your personal finance book deal to come through so the Madame's identity will finally be revealed! Happy Blogoversary!

Just thought I would add my little bit here. The first post I read by you was the marriage proposal post. I thought it was hilarious and it is what kept me coming back for more. You are hands down my favorite financial blogger. Keep up the good (funny) work!
